We published a dated, sourced tracker of the "spicy-mayo" Arena codename, the "Nano Banana 2.5" nickname and what Google actually shipped (Nano Banana 2.1, 6 October 2026). Every claim carries an evidence label. We also replaced the "Nano Banana 2.5 is not available" answers across the site with the full story.
Create and edit images with Nano Banana 2.1 at 1K, 2K or 4K for 30, 45 or 60 credits, with up to four reference photos per edit and eight aspect ratios including 21:9. Thinking level is fixed at high and web search is off so the quote never changes.
Snapshots dated 6 Oct 2026: score 1328 on 5,312 votes for text-to-image, 1428 on 12,985 votes for image edit, behind GPT-Image 2.5 Sunburst and Flare. Listed as "Preliminary".
Google released gemini-nano-banana-2.1 as generally available, deprecated gemini-3.1-flash-image with a shutdown date of 29 October 2026, and Arena added the new model to its text-to-image and image-edit leaderboards. We never offered Nano Banana 2 and are offering 2.1 since 7 October 2026.
